2012 is a significant year for sustainability in the UK event industry and will see the launch of two leading international frameworks, tailored for the event industry: ISO 20121 and the Global Reporting Initiative Event Organizers Sector Supplement.

London 2012 will mean that event sustainability is in the spotlight, and we’ve gathered together a selection of 2012 Games Inspired Resources to support your role in making the event industry more sustainable. Our education session was a fantastic chance to hear from David Stubbs, Head of Sustainability at London 2012.
Within the UK, national initiatives and targets will be created, including the Sustainable Event Industry Roadmap. Also presenting was Mervyn Jones from EPOW (European Pathway to Zero Waste) who explained the latest developments relating to the sustainable event industry roadmap, and the resource management plan tool.
Education Session
As 2012 is a year of potential change in how the event industry understands and implements sustainability, a free education session was planned to allow organisations across the industry ensure that they are prepared for the opportunities associated with these changes.

This free event was an opportunity for all members of the event industry to learn from internationally recognised leaders in sustainability. The event took place with Meeting Professionals International UK & Ireland and The Netherlands.
